About Me

About Me

I am a nurse by profession but a writer by passion. You see, being a nurse was my mother’s dream. However, I wanted to be either a journalist or a lawyer. This blog, hopefully, will be my own version of fulfilling that personal dream.

Professionally, I am a Certified Pediatric Nurse currently working in the field of Nursing Informatics. In fact, my career trajectory followed the tomb to womb path. When I came to the States, I started my career in a geriatric setting. From there, I moved on to become a Medical-Surgical Oncology unit assistant nursing manager. Then, my 15-year stint in the Maternal and Child department commenced. I worked in the Pediatrics, the PICU, the Mother-Baby, and the Level 3 NICU of a Level 1 Trauma center until recently. The move to nursing informatics was inspired by my specialty track during graduate school.

My almost 30 years in the different nursing fields have afforded me so many experiences I hope to share here. The joy of hearing a newborn’s first cry. The heartbreak while holding the patient’s hand as he or she breathes his or her last. I can also talk about the struggles of moving to a new country or pursuing graduate school. I am not an expert by any means, but I hope that my stories can inspire you one way or another.

Welcome to UpGrace!

My very first job was as a volunteer nurse in the Emergency Room of our district hospital.
